Tin named as Arts Council England 2012 highlight

This time last year it was all systems go preparing Tin – our biggest project to date! Our extra special collaboration with English Touring Opera, commissioned by the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, delved deep into the lives and loves of a Cornish mining community and has now been selected as one of Arts Council England’s (ACE) cultural highlights of 2012.

With only 12 projects highlighted (1 for each month) in what was undoubtedly a strong programme of arts and culture (Jubilee events and the Olympic and Paralympic cultural programme) Bill Scott’s production is ranked among ACE initiatives including sculptor Anthony Gormley’s collaboration with choreographer Hofesh Shechter and the flagship Cultural Olympiad project ‘Unlimited Festival’ at London's Southbank Centre which ran for the duration of the Paralympic Games.

“I'm bowled over that Miracle Theatre and English Touring Opera have received this recognition from the Arts Council – and, of course, we couldn’t have produced the project at all without their support’ says Miracle Theatre’s Artistic Director,  Bill Scott “Tin was a unique project and all two hundred people who collaborated in making it should feel extremely proud of their achievement”
