Can it really be 30 years? Since it began in 1979, Miracle has been delighting audiences across the South West and has built a reputation for extraordinary, entertaining and very funny theatre in stunning outdoor locations.
Its first production was The Beginning of the World - an adaptation of the first part of the Cornish miracle plays or Ordinalia. Appropriately, the first performance was at Perran Round, near Perranporth, one of Cornwall’s ‘playing places’, where the original Ordinalia would have been staged in the Cornish language centuries before.
Bill Scott, Miracle’s Artistic Director and founder, says, “Miracle’s performances are part of a Cornish tradition of open-air theatre that stretches back at least 1000 years. The reasons for the enduring popularity are clear to see: great plays, performed with vitality and humour, enriched by original music and enjoyed in some of the most glorious natural venues under the stars.” Miracle will return to Perran Round on 14 Aug 09.
Miracle Theatre has been touring innovative comic theatre across the UK for 30 years. It is one of Cornwall's most distinctive voices.
Since it began life in Cornwall in 1979, Miracle Theatre Company has developed a reputation for exciting new writing and popular adaptations of classical works. The shows are witty, highly physical and entertaining and tour to open air venues, theatres and arts centres across the UK.
Miracle's work is collaborative, bringing together artists, actors, musicians, writers and makers from around Cornwall to create theatre with a unique comic style, a joyful use of language and an immediate visual appeal.
Miracle Theatre is a Registered Charity and relies on the generosity of it's Friends and supporters to continue producing innovative and entertaining theatre. Find out here about how you can support Miracle as an individual or through your business.
