Beauty and the Beast from Mars - The West Briton

Young and old enjoyed a sell-out production of a futuristic 'Beauty And The Beast From Mars' performed at the community centre in Lostwithiel by the Miracle Theatre Company.

The play, by Bill Scott and Steve Clarke, combined the elements of a traditional family pantomime with futuristic extras, from rock and roll tunes to ruthless space aliens. The combination of technical wizardry, video animation, original Sixties- inspired songs, live music and huge laughs struck a chord with audiences at both the matinee and evening performances.

This theatre group, made up of actors from across Cornwall, is always a popular post-Christmas attraction. Lostwithiel community steward and Brownie volunteer Pat Wilton had organised for the 1st Lostwithiel Brownies to go along as part of their Christmas treat. She said: "The children loved it and the actors were brilliant. The children really enjoyed the futuristic theme with the aliens." The theatre group remains committed to employing local actors, crew and staff, and aims to bring top quality theatre to small-scale rural venues across Cornwall and the South West.
